Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman is confident that his team can qualify for the European Championship next year. Mick McCarthy’s side had the chance to strengthen their hold at the top of their qualifying group but they could not do so after Georgia held them to a frustrating 0-0 draw on the road.
As a result, the Republic are equal on points with second-placed Denmark but they can’t rest on their laurels with Switzerland four points behind them, having played an extra game less. Speaking in a press conference, Coleman expressed confidence over the team’s ability and said that they are capable of securing a big result against either Switzerland or Denmark.
