Jenas says Jack Grealish must make the England squad for Euro 2020

Former Premier League ace Jermaine Jenas has said that it would be embarrassing, should Jack Grealish miss out on the England squad for Euro 2020. The 24-year-old has yet to make his debut for the Three Lions but he has made a strong case for a call-up next month after his consistent showing for Aston Villa in the top-flight.

The Villains have not had the best of seasons on their Premier League comeback but Grealish has managed to catch the attention of fans and pundits alike with his tally of seven goals and six assists. His performances have contributed to the Villains staying just above the drop zone and Jenas believes the midfielder has matured into a much better footballer.

Speaking on the Match of the Day 2 programme, Jenas praised the qualities of the Villains graduate and said that Grealish has performed much better than the likes of Mason Mount, James Maddison and Dele Alli. He added that the midfielder should make the national squad for the European Championships this summer or it would be embarrassing.

He told: “He’s got to be in the England squad. It’s got to that point where it’s actually embarrassing if he’s not in the squad. We’re talking about Mount, Maddison, Dele Alli, he’s the best of the bunch. As we speak today, he’s the best of them all. You see his maturity on the ball, the way players are bouncing off him, he’s the most fouled player in the Premier League, he’s got seven goals and six assists, he really is maturing into a top player. Without him in the team, Villa are half the team they are.”

The west Midlands outfit are currently just one point ahead of the relegation zone and they have not been helped with numerous injury setbacks. Tom Heaton and Wesley are already injured for the rest of the campaign while John McGinn may only return during the closing stages of the campaign after a long-term ankle injury. Aston Villa have a league game at Southampton this weekend.
